Welcome To Night Vale - Cecil

I can't believe I've never made fan art for this before because Welcome to Night Vale is literally one of my favorite. things. in. the. WORLD. I've been listening to it for a while now, and I've only just started to notice the rise in popularity and fandom around the internet. As a loyal fan for months, I felt that I had to do a tribute to this astounding, albeit disturbing, masterpiece of imagination.

The best part of Night Vale is the host, Cecil Baldwin. The moment I first heard his voice, I pictured him with an old fashioned pipe (don't know why ) and hipster glasses. Also, the combination of his creepy deep tone and stuffy old name made me thing of a rich-white-guy old-money kind of Gatsby vibe, which fit quite well with the strange little town of Night Vale. I also imagined him with some type of tentacles somewhere, but they're usually hidden. Anyways, that's my justification for why I drew him like this. Cecil is wonderful, he's been like a constant companion to me over the past few months and I've gotten used to his soothing-yet-suspicious voice.

I plan on doing a short dyptic series with this portrait plus another, so I'll post Carlos' portrait tomorrow.
